The summer holidays are over, and thoughts here at Space In Your Case are turning to the wonders of winter. Watch out for some lovely ideas on snug and cosy cottages with log fires, long Autumn walks, and restaurants full of warming family food. But one thing that’s on our minds to book very soon is our next ski holiday! You can find lots of suggestions on the site for great family-friendly ski trips, and today we’re looking at a very special venue if you’re thinking of taking your first skiing holiday with children.
An Easy Family Ski Holiday
We’ve been talking to Première Neige, the family ski holiday specialists in the delightful village of Sainte Foy, in the French Alps, about what makes the resort a perfect choice for families. With chalets and apartments ideal for sharing with friends or family, they have lots of inspiration. Whether you’re looking for somewhere new to ski or you’re a complete beginner, Sainte Foy has something for everyone. Première Neige have been tailor-making family ski holidays for over 15 years, and know that a family ski trip is so different to any other holiday, with many extras to organise. Here’s how they take the hassle out of holiday planning and help you sort out all little the details, giving you more time to enjoy precious family moments together.
1. Easy Booking
Booking couldn’t be easier, just choose your dates, take advantage of the latest offers and choose which property you’d like to stay at. Première Neige have fantastic accommodation options – something to suit everyone, whether you’re a small family or a large group. They’ve even got both catered and self-catered options remaining over peak dates too.
2. Accommodation Close To The Slopes
Half-board Catered Family Holidays
Première Neige chalets are all close to the slopes and offer hot tubs, bedrooms with ensuite facilities, games rooms and TVs with DVD players, perfect for kid’s bedtime movie nights whilst you relax and enjoy your gourmet dining experience. You don’t even need to think about mealtimes; your professional chefs and chalet hosts will ensure your children eat well, with tailored menus and an earlier children’s dinner sitting. Chalet La Marquise looks perfect for a group of families, with a games room for the kids to hang out in, while adults relax in the private spa, complete with balcony hot tub!
Self-catered Family Holidays
If you prefer to pick your own mealtimes and menus, you can choose from a large range of family-friendly self-catered chalets & apartments, all of which are close to the slopes and fully equipped to make family mealtimes a breeze. Properties range from 1-2 bedrooms, right up to 8 bedrooms, with hot tubs, saunas, log fires and balconies with outstanding views. Apartement L’Ourse de Savoie looks amazing for large families, or two families to share, with huge bedrooms, a log fire, and amazing views.
3. Family-friendly, no crowds and children under 7 ski for free!
One of Sainte Foy’s key attractions is that even during peak weeks, such as school holidays, there is rarely a queue to be seen at a chairlift and ski runs are often empty. In fact it’s where ski instructors from other resorts love to go on their days off! Offering uncrowded, family-friendly beginner and nursery slopes, the resort is ideal for those just starting out, or looking to build up their confidence, with children under 7 skiing free.
4. Childcare
Childcare at Sainte Foy sounds second to none. The Snow Cub Crèche, for children 6 months to 5 years is a real home from home in the centre of the resort. There’s an array of toys and games, as well as a separate sleeping room for those who need to nap during the day. Children go on snow walks and sledging, build snowmen, and go on treasure hunts, as well as creating keepsakes, such as clay handprint mementos and their very own memory folder, to help them remember their magical Sainte Foy winter holiday.
You also have the option to book a private nanny – from newborn, allowing you to ski with the peace of mind that your little ones are receiving exclusive care in the comfort of your chalet. Lunch and snacks are prepared in your chalet or if you wish the nannies can bring your kids to meet you at a restaurant. They will also drop off and pick up your children from ski lessons, making your holiday as hassle-free as possible.
5. Pick & Mix Your Ski Extras
A huge benefit we love is the pre-booking service, which allows guests to reserve lessons, lift passes, ski hire, bread deliveries and Elemis Spa massages and treatments well in advance, saving hassle on arrival. All other extras are really easy to add on too, such as airport transfers, and chambermaid service. You can even add mountain excursions and experiences, such as husky sledding and helicopter trips.
Are you planning a family ski holiday this winter? We’d love to hear your plans, and share your family ski tips with the team. And if you haven’t yet booked, take a look at Première Neige for some inspiration.
